Setting up Netgear routers with UnblockAll

Important: Before you start

Before you get on changing your DNS settings in order to use UnblockAll, make sure to write down on a piece of paper, the current serves addresses. It's highly important for you to keep these numbers safe, for backup needs, in cse you want or need to get back to them at any time.

We also advise you to print this page, in case you have problems and need to take a look on the instructions available.

Instructions

1. Open your router administration page. It is usually one of these:

o 192.168.1.1

o 192.168.0.1

o 192.168.2.1

o If those links do not work please consult your manual.

2. Enter your user name and password if you configured one. The default details are;

o Username: admin

o Password: password

3. Click on ”Basic settings” on the left under “Setup”

4. Fill DNS server fields with values from the table below:

Primary: 173.214.251.71

Secondary:   192.133.141.178 

5. Click on OK button.

Important!

Give the router, computers and players you are planning to use with the service a restart

Login to our homepage, making sure to check the status of the service on the status bar in the middle.

3 green bars should appear in the middle of the screen. If an orange box tells you to update your IP address, please proceed in doing that.

Why do I need to block Public DNS Lookups?

Some services have begun using forced DNS lookups to Google and other public DNS servers that are hardcoded in the apps and devices. This effectively bypasses any DNS servers setup by you or your ISP which means Smart DNS services such as Unblockall will not work. In order for Unblockall to be able to work, your services have to use Unblockall server to resolve domain names. The only way to get around this issue is by setting up static routes or other methods to block your device from accessing Google, and other public DNS servers from supported routers.

Disclaimer: This is an advanced tutorial meant for users comfortable setting up routers. If settings get corrupt, you always have the option of resetting the router but make sure you make note of your current settings or back them up first. The instructions and commands are provided AS IS for you to try and may or may not work depending on your actual router and the features available for you.


Step 1 - Login to your Router

a. Type http://192.168.1.1 into the web browser address bar (also try http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.2.1)

b. Enter router username and password. The default username & password is usually admin for both. 

Step 2 - Add Static Routes

a. Click on Advanced

b. Write down your router IP and then click on 'Static Routes' 

c. Click on 'Add'

d. Add the following to the Route List:

Network/Host IP: 8.8.8.8

Netmask: 255.255.255.255

Gateway: your router IP

Metric: 2




e. Click 'Apply'


f. Repeat steps D and E for the following routes:

Network/Host IP: 8.8.4.4

Netmask: 255.255.255.255

Gateway: your router IP

Metric: 2


Network/Host Address: 108.175.32.0

Subnet Mask: 255.255.240.0


Network/Host Address: 23.246.0.0

Subnet Mask: 255.255.192.0


Network/Host Address: 45.57.0.0

Subnet Mask: 255.255.128.0


Network/Host Address: 185.2.220.0

Subnet Mask: 255.255.252.0


Network/Host Address: 198.38.96.0

Subnet Mask: 255.255.224.0


Network/Host Address: 198.45.48.0

Subnet Mask: 255.255.240.0


 Network/Host Address: 64.120.128.0

Subnet Mask: 255.255.128.0

 

Network/Host Address: 64.197.128.0

Subnet Mask: 255.255.128.0

Gateway: your router IP

Metric: 2


Step 3 - Power-Cycle Devices

a. Turn off your device.

b. Unplug the power cable from the router.

c. Wait 30 seconds.

d. Plug in router.

e. Turn on your device.
